The bastides of Périgord

The bastides are new towns of the 13th century, both a strategic place and a place of commerce and life. They have a very particular architectural style, built in golden stone with very straight tracks and perpendicular intersections. The most beautiful examples of country houses in Périgord are the cities of Domme (photo on the left), Belvès and Montpazier, all labeled among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France”.
